Nepal’s flooding and potential impacts on tours, 2024
As you have probably heard in the news, Nepal has been hit by the rainstorm water flooding, almost all over Nepal. This includes the major places like Kathmandu, Butwal and Sauraha. Unfortunately, this natural disaster has caused more than 100s of people to lost their lifes, and we express are deepest condonceles to them.
In Sauraha and the periphery of Chitwan National Park, there has been severe damange in certain areas, with the main Sauraha town completely flooded. The flood has swept some restauranats, while filling the bottom floor of some hotels. Some of the bridges inside the Chitwan National Park, which forms the route for jeep safaris needs maintenance, whereas all the areas of park requires cleanup.
With this flooding, we would like to advise you the possible implacts on the tours that you have already booked with us.

-
Until October 15th, we except that Jeep safari won’t resume inside the Chitwan National Park. The park has indicated that they will start up cleaning and maintenance of tracks/routes starting 30th September, and we expect it could last at least two weeks before operational.
-
Eventhough the Jungle walk is still permitted inside the Chitwan National Park, we may end of modifying your itinerary to avoid the muddy tracks until the cleanup has been completed. We would like to assure you that it would still be walk inside the Chitwan national park, but would follow uphill routes to avoid muddy places.
-
The canoe across the border of Chitwan National park is fully operational during this process.
-
The Jeep safari option available in Bufferzone area (note that there is no any physical boundary between Bufferzone and CNP) is still operational.
-
Tower night isn’t affected by the flooding.
-
20,000 Lake visit is fully operation during this period.
-
Birdwatching trips are operational, however, if the itinerary includes jeep safari inside the park, this could be modified to better suit the environmental condition.

Timeline of Updates:
28 September: Flooding across various region of Nepal.
29 September: Likelyhood of cleaning starting of 30 September as indicated by some authorities.
30 September: Today, park authorities did a site visit, and concluded that 2 bridges needs maintenance. Road is rough, and authorities will use tractor and dozer to maintain from tomorrow.
02 October: The Muglin-Narayanghat highway which forms the way from Kathmandu/Pokhara to Sauraha, has experienced landslide every now and then, and blocked the road. There are heavy traffics which clears and gets blocked very often, so the transports are very slow at the moment.
We hope the cleanup and maintenance work to be completed soon, and all the activities fully operational. Npal dynamic eco tours will keep you posted on this.
